Waitaramoa Reserve

Room 19, 20 and 21 walked down to Waitaramoa Reserve.

We were looking out for creatures in food chains.

We found great examples of producers (plants that make their own food), primary consumers (herbivores) secondary and tertiary consumers (carnivores).
We even found some decomposers breaking down creatures into nutrients which help the producers grow again.

Each group took some pictures - here are a few

Can you work out whether these are producers, consumers or decomposers?

Observational Drawing

We have been looking at what makes an insect an insect.
We have learnt that an insect has 6 legs, its body is divided into 3 parts
(head, thorax, and abdomen).
They also have a pair of antennae and usually have wings.
We had a closer look at some insects and did some observational drawings.
This is where we look very closely at a picture and try and draw exactly what we see.

Wild VAS

Our inquiry for Term 1 is 'Wild VAS and Beyond'.
This is an inquiry into ecosystems in our local environment.
Here are a few snaps of Team 20 exploring our own forest at school to find evidence of living things or things they have left behind.
